Silent blocks that have a flange on the outer face are press-fit as a silent blocks wiht an outer metal ring (more…). There is only one requirement: the hole in the pressing cylinder must not nick the polyurethane layer on the face.
Force can be applied via the pressing cylinder across the entire surface as in the previous example (even on a polyurethane layer) (fig. 3).
Some silent blocks of this type have end plates. They can be press-fit without using a hollow pressing cylinder by applying force directly to the plate (fig. 4). Metal blocks are usually inserted in this type of (lug-shaped) control arm.
